Addendum 8 – Suspension of All Curtailments in the Scott River Watershed
To: Scott River Water Right Holders (sent to water right holders for which the Board has email addresses and to the Scott-Shasta Drought and Flow Efforts E-mail List)
The State Water Resources Control Board (State Water Board or Board) is suspending all curtailments in the Scott River watershed. On July 20, 2025, the State Water Board issued Addendum 7, reinstating curtailments for all surface water and groundwater rights in the Scott River watershed, as listed in Attachment A of Order WR 2024-0024-DWR and Order WR 2024-0025-DWR. The reinstatement was based on flows dropping below the required July minimum flow of 50 cubic feet per second (cfs) at the Fort Jones United States Geological Survey (USGS) gage. Several community members expressed concern regarding the accuracy of the measurement, and USGS has revised its flow measurements upward based on measurements taken by the Scott Valley and Shasta Valley Watermaster District (Watermaster). As of 7:30 am this morning, flows at the Fort Jones USGS gage were measured at 78.4 cfs.
It is important to note that Scott River flows have been declining, and all diverters are still encouraged to conserve and coordinate their diversions as flows decrease to maintain the minimum instream flows.
